Brussels drafting four-year financial aid plan for Ukraine - press

BRUSSELS. June 1 (Interfax) - The European Union is working on a four-year plan of financial assistance to Ukraine following criticism of Brussels for the haphazard nature of its financial support for Kiev over the past year, the Financial Times said, citing EU diplomatic sources.

The proposals are still being drafted, but they could be ready this month, possibly ahead of a Ukraine recovery conference planned in London on June 21-22. The plan is expected to contain proposals on assistance for Ukraine in the period to 2027.

The plan would provide more visibility regarding the provision of assistance to Kiev and is also aimed at encouraging other EU allies, such as the U.S. and UK, to provide long-term pledges concerning financial support for Ukraine.
