Roscosmos head calls for satellite plant to be built in Russia by 2026

MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - Russia should build a plant to begin serial satellite production by 2025-2026, Roscosmos head Yury Borisov said in a statement.

"We need to build a plant in Russia so that we have a manufacturing asset by 2025-2026, and can serially produce about 250 satellites each year. This is what we need now," Borisov said.

Serial satellite production would require a facility "based on standardization, unification, replicating technical solutions, and new logistics principles," Roscosmos said.

Borisov said in an interview with the newspaper Vedomosti on December 21, 2022, that Roscosmos would begin issuing bonds totaling 10 billion rubles in 2023, and invest the funds in building two plants for serial satellite production.
