Ukrainian Foreign Ministry seeking to gain support from African countries - Kuleba

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Kiev is making special efforts to persuade African countries to vote for Ukrainian-proposed resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Foreign Ministry.

"We are working to make sure that African countries vote effectively in favor of our resolutions at the UN General Assembly," the ministry quoted Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba as saying during a TV marathon.

Kuleba also shared plans to open new Ukrainian embassies in African countries.

"Eight of the ten countries have already given their consent to opening Ukrainian embassies, and the other two are finalizing the relevant processes. This is a good indicator. There are a number of candidates for ambassadors to four or five countries," he said.

Kuleba said also that, while visiting Nigeria's capital Abuja, he met with Angolan Minister for External Relations Tete Antonio.

"We discussed bolstering bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of trade and food security," Ukrainian media quoted Kuleba as saying on his social account.
