Zelensky imposes sanctions against Russian, Belarusian research institutes, businesses

MINSK. May 29 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has imposed sanctions against 51 individuals and 220 companies, primarily Russian and Belarusian, according to a decree published Saturday on the president's official website.

The Belarusian companies hit with sanctions include the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), the group management company of which is BelavtoMAZ; Vavilov Minsk Mechanical Plant - management company BelOMO; Vitebsk radio components plant Monolit; AGAT-Control Systems - management company Geoinformation Systems Management; Horizont Group Management Company; Minsk Radio Materials Research Institute; and Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant, among others.

The Russian companies hit by sanctions include the Solikamsk Experimental Metallurgical Plant (SOMZ); Dzerzhinsky Machine Building Plant; Keldysh Research Center; Experimental Scientific Instrument Making Plant with RAN design bureau; State Chemical Products Research Institute; All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radio Equipment (VNIIRA); RZD Asset Management; RZDstroy; Railway Trading Company; Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) ; Unmanned Systems; and Autonomous Aerospace Systems - Geoservice, among others.

Sanctions against the companies on the list include a freeze on assets, complete cessation of trade transactions, a ban on transit of the companies' products through Ukraine, and the suspension of fulfillment of financial obligations to these companies and other measures, which will be imposed for 10 years.

Zelensky also imposed sanctions against 51 citizens of Russia.
