Yerevan affirms importance of security cooperation with United States

YEREVAN. May 23 (Interfax) - Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense have declared the importance of bilateral security cooperation at a meeting in Yerevan, the Armenian Security Council's press service said on Tuesday.

"Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan has met with representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense, Maj. Gen. Keith Phillips and Patrick Prior. [The meeting's participants] discussed the security situation inside and outside the region, and affirmed the importance of security cooperation between Armenia and the United States," the press service said.

The representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense also met with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan. The sides discussed bilateral defense cooperation and certain aspects of regional security, the press service said.
