Ukrainian deputy PM calls on Rada to adopt several bills in May to fulfill European Commission's recommendations

MOSCOW. May 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina has called on the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a number of bills in May as part of steps to fulfill the European Commission's recommendations.

"We have a common understanding at the political level that meeting these seven political criteria offers a window of opportunities, enabling us to start negotiations on accession to the EU. We will not go beyond the tasks set in these recommendations," Ukrainian media quoted Stefanishina as saying in a statement circulated by her press service.

To this end, the deputy prime minister called on the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a number of bills in May, such as amendments to the advertising law approved by the parliament in the first reading, bills on fulfilling financial monitoring recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering, and legislative amendments regarding the procedure for selecting candidates for the post of Ukrainian Constitutional Court judges.

"It is a crucial package of decisions that needs to be adopted before the [interim] assessment is issued and to ensure its positive result. A calendar of our further actions will depend on it," she said.
