Russian FM meeting with Indian FM
PANAJI, India. May 4 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is holding talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the sidelines of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries.
The talks are taking place behind closed doors, an Interfax correspondent reported. Before their start, Lavrov and Jaishankar greeted each other by putting both palms together in the traditional Indian greeting and posed for photos.
Lavrov is attending the May 4-5 meeting of the SCO states' foreign ministers in India. He is also expected to meet with the Chinese and Pakistani foreign ministers on the sidelines of the event on Thursday.
On Friday, the SCO countries' foreign ministers will discuss substantive preparations for the SCO leaders' meeting, due to take place in New Delhi on July 3-4, and the ongoing work on a number of draft documents and decisions.
