Ukraine quits CIS agreement concerning social support, alimony

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has withdrawn from an agreement between the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on guarantees of citizens' rights as regards the payment of social welfare, compensatory allowances to families with children, and alimony.

Ukrainian media reported with reference to a social media post by Taras Melnichuk, the government's representative at the Verkhovna Rada, that the decision was made at a government meeting on Friday.

The CIS agreement on guarantees of citizens' rights as regards the payment of social welfare, compensatory allowances to families with children, and alimony was signed in Moscow on September 9, 1994.
