Ukrzaliznytsia introduces new restrictions on agricultural product shipments to Poland

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia, or Ukrainian Railways has introduced a conventional ban on the transportation of a wide range of agricultural products to Polish railways from April 17 to June 30, Ukrainian media reported, citing the company's website.

Meanwhile, it clarified that the list was compiled in accordance with the list from the annex to the order from the Minister of Development and Technology of Poland, Waldemar Buda, dated April 15, by which Poland banned the import of several dozen agricultural product items of from Ukraine.

The ban applies to cereals and legumes, seeds, starch, flour, sugar, cake and animal feed, vegetables, fruits, nuts, wine, livestock products and live animals, dairy products and canned food, fats, butter, honey, tea, coffee and a number of other products.

At the same time, the message on the Ukrzaliznytsia website clarifies that the acceptance for transportation of goods to the address of Polish Railways and transit for Polish carrier PKP Cargo S.A. is prohibited.

In addition, from April 18 through June 30, the transportation of live animals, meat and edible by-products, products of animal origin, dairy products, eggs, vegetables, and fruits, nuts, coffee and tea, cereals, products from the flour and cereals industry, starch, seeds, straw and fodder, fats, wax, prepared meat and fish products or shellfish, sugar and confectionery products thereof, cocoa and cocoa products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, vinegar, cork and cork products, other vegetable textile fibers, paper yarn and paper yarn fabrics, are forbidden through the Izov-Khrubieszow crossing (through which the bulk of goods transit by train between Ukraine and Poland).

The prohibition of acceptance of goods, transportation of goods with Poland as the destination and transit for Polish carrier PKP LHS sp. Z o.o. are indicated in the notes.

Since the beginning of April, Ukrzaliznytsia already introduced a number of conventional bans on the transportation of agricultural products to Poland, including through the Izov-Khrubieszow crossing.

According to the text of the annex to the order of the Minister of Development and Technology of Poland, Buda, dated April 15, starting April 16, the import of several dozen agricultural products from Ukraine to Poland is prohibited. Since April 15, goods have not been imported by rail even in transit mode.
