Verkhovna Rada calls on NATO member states to support Ukraine's membership in alliance

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The Verkhovna Rada has adopted an appeal to NATO countries and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to help accelerate Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.

The deputies supported the adoption of a relevant draft resolution at a plenary session on Monday, the Ukrainian media reported, citing member of the European Solidarity faction Alexei Goncharenko.

The Ukrainian lawmakers deem it necessary that the member states of the Alliance ask their governments to promote the adoption of joint documents with Ukraine in support of its progress towards future membership during the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg and during the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Additionally, NATO member states are asked to entrust their governments to take all measures to convene a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission at the level of the leaders with the participation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during the NATO summit in Vilnius.
