Gazprom resumes gas exports to China via Power of Siberia pipeline after maintenance

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Gazprom has resumed gas exports to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline following a one-week scheduled shutdown for maintenance.

"Scheduled maintenance work on the Power of Siberia gas pipeline has been completed. Transportation of gas resumed today as planned," the Russian gas giant said in a press release.

In 2022, spring maintenance on the pipeline was done from March 29 to April 4.

Russia began supplying gas to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline from the Chayanda field in Yakutia at the end of 2019. The Kovykta field in the Irkutsk region began feeding gas into the pipeline system in 2022.

Supplies are due to be ramped up to 38 billion cubic meters per year in the first five years. Gazprom supplied 15.4 bcm of gas to China via the pipeline in 2022, and supplies are expected to increase to 22 bcm in 2023.
