Partial blackouts possible in Zhitomir, Kharkov regions - Ukrainian Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Power supply may be cut to certain consumers in the Zhitomir region due to grid repairs, alongside certain consumers in the Kharkov region due to bad weather, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

Meanwhile, power supply has been resumed in the Kharkov and some other regions (1,600), the Ukrainian media said, citing the ministry's statement on a social network.

The minister noted that the national power grid was operating without consumption limits and with capacity reserves on Friday.

Ukrainian media reported that repair crews from DTEK Odessa Grids have been put on alert amid expected adverse weather conditions in the Odessa region.

"Meteorologists are saying there will be rain and gusty wind in the Odessa region. Therefore, 206 repair crews of DTEK Odessa Grids have been put on alert so as to be able, in case of emergencies, to turn the lights back on in Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible," DTEK said on Friday.

Strong gusts of wind might cause trees to fall and break electric wires, it said.
