Ukraine receives 183 tonnes of energy equipment from France - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received 22 shipments of energy equipment from France as humanitarian aid with a total weight of 183 tonnes since August 2022, the Ukrainian Energy Ministry said.

According to the Ukrainian media, citing the ministry's message on social media on Sunday, the equipment includes generators of different power, circuit breakers, special clothing, disconnectors, lighting fixtures, chemical products, and gas equipment needed for repair work.

In March of this year, 1,389 convectors and 11 generators were donated from the French non-governmental organization Electrics Without Borders.

"We thank France for its assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector. The received equipment is used to restore power and gas supply to thousands of Ukrainian families as soon as possible," Energy Minister German Galushchenko was quoted as saying in the statement.

This is the contribution of the French partners not only to the restoration of the Ukrainian energy system, but also to the European energy security, he said.

The previous day, the Energy Ministry said that humanitarian assistance to the energy sector amounting to 470 shipments with a total weight of about 6,000 tonnes had already been provided by 30 countries. The ministry distributed the humanitarian aid to 111 enterprises of the energy sector. As of March 24, according to the Energy Ministry, over 151 million euros have been accumulated on a special account of the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund.

The working group of the Energy Ministry has already approved the list of equipment, fuel and services worth over 137 million euros for supplies to 41 energy companies under the procedure of purchasing at the expense of the Fund. As for the remaining funds, new requests from energy companies, which provide production, transmission and distribution of electricity, storage, distribution and transportation of natural gas, as well as companies of the mining industry, are being prepared.
