Direct flights between Minsk and Tehran to resume from March 26 - Belarusian transport minister

MINSK. March 13 (Interfax) - Direct flights between Belarus and Iran will be resumed from March 26, Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Alexei Avramenko said.

"We have agreed that direct flights between Minsk and Tehran will be resumed from March 26," the Sb. Belarus Segodnya state media outlet quoted Avramenko as telling reporters on Monday following talks in Tehran.

"The flights will be operated by the Mahan Air Iranian airline. They will take place twice a week at this point, he said.

The resumption of direct air travel between Belarus and Iran "will provide further impetus to the development of business and bilateral contacts," the minister said.

Minsk-Tehran flights had been operated by Belavia, the national airline of Belarus, since 2010, but these flights were closed in 2018 "for technical reasons". The air carrier did not offer any further details.
