Federation Council approves bill suspending Russia's participation in New START
MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Russia's Federation Council on Wednesday voted for a bill that suspends Russia's participation in the New START treaty.
The corresponding document was submitted to the State Duma in the evening of February 21 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The document was adopted by the State Duma on Wednesday.
The bill on Russia's suspension of Treaty between the United States of America and the Russian Federation on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (New START) will take effect on the day of its official publication.
The document also states that the decision to resume Russia's participation in the New START treaty is made by the Russian president.
