Ukrainian Border Service updates border crossing statistics

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The net outflow of people from Ukraine increased to 16,000 over the past week from 8,000 a week before, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service's information available on social media.

The number of people who departed Ukraine between February 11 and 17 increased to 225,000 from 219,000, and the number of those entering Ukraine remained the same as a week before, 211,000, the service said.

The number of cars that crossed Ukraine's western borders in this period also remained the same, 118,000, while the number of vehicles cleared to carry humanitarian aid declined to 452 from 464.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency information as of February 14, a total of 18.607 million people have departed Ukraine since the start of the crisis, with 9.604 million of these having crossed into Poland, 2.852 million Russia (this figure has not been updated since October 3, 2022), 2.216 million Hungary, 1.967 million Romania, 1.163 million Slovakia, about 770,300 Moldova, and about 16,700 Belarus.

At the same time, according to the UN, 10.297 million people entered Ukraine between February 28, 2022 and February 14, 2023, exclusive of those who arrived from Hungary, Russia, and Belarus.
