Zelensky meets with UK Labor Party leader in Kiev

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with UK Labor Party leader Keir Starmer in Kiev on Thursday.

"One of our priorities today is to further strengthen the support for Ukraine by our partners and allies, with the United Kingdom playing a key role among them. That is why, the visit by leader of the Labor Party and the Official Opposition of the UK Keir Starmer is highly important," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Zelensky as saying in a social media post.

The Guardian said that Starmer's visit had not been announced in advance.

"Keir Starmer has travelled to Kiev to meet Zelensky," the newspaper said.

Starmer, for his part, said that should there be a change of government in the UK, the support for Ukraine will remain the same.

"I stressed that the Labor Party supports and would maintain the training and technological support the current UK government is providing," he said.
