Egypt interested in setting up logistical hub for importing Ukrainian grain - Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Egypt are mulling joint logistical projects in the agribusiness industry, including the establishment of a logistical hub in Egypt for importing Ukrainian grain.

Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Nikolai Solsky reached relevant agreements with Egyptian Ambassador to Ukraine Ayman Ahmed Mokhtar Elgammal at a meeting in Kiev, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the ministry's statement on its website.

"The ambassador said Egypt is interested in implementing joint logistical agribusiness projects. In particular, we are talking about setting up a logistical hub for grain deliveries. Solsky said Ukraine would consider Egypt's proposal," the ministry said.

Solsky and Elgammal also discussed the implementation of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative.

As reported earlier, Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana also said during a Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry delegation visit in January 2023 that they wished to build hubs for importing Ukrainian agricultural produce.

The Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) purchased two 30,000-tonne shipments of Ukrainian corn at $323 per tonne from the Egyptian African Co on February 6.
