Ukraine imports more electricity from Europe so far in Feb than in whole of Jan

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Ukraine imported 63.74 GWh of electricity from Europe in February 1-6, which is 7% more than it imported in the whole of January, Ukrainian media reported, citing data from the website of ENTSO-E, the European system operator network.

The country imported 59.57 GWh of European electricity in January. Deliveries amounted to 9.949 GWh on February 6 and the nomination for February 7 was at about the same at 9.865 GWh.

According to ENTSO-E data, imports on Tuesday should be for all hours of the day at capacity of 388-433 MW. Deliveries are carried out from Slovakia.

For the second day in a row, traders are booking all the capacity offered by system operator Ukrenergo for importing electricity from Slovakia, which is 400-600 MW and enables up to 11.78 GWh per day to be supplied.

D. Trading, which is part of the DTEK holding, booked capacity for imports at 360-560 MW for all hours of the day. The EKU trading company booked 34-41 MW for all hours, U. Commodities - 1 MW per hour for six hours and Avgusta - 6 MW per hour for all hours.

Also, for the third day running, according to updated data on the ENTSO-E website, a small amount of electricity was imported to Ukraine from Moldova, supplies from which traders were able to launch on a trial basis on February 5. These supplies came to 506 MWh on February 5 and 435 MWh on February 6 and are expected to be 281 MWh on February 7.

Only 112 MW of the 800 MW of capacity for each hour put up for auction have been distributed: D.Trading has booked up to 100 MW and Artlex-Energy 12 MW per hour for all hours.

The Ukrainian Energy Ministry has said currently agreed commercial electricity flows between the EU countries and Ukraine jointly with Moldova are 0.7 GW at night and 0.6 GW during the day.

Ukraine expects to increase electricity imports from Europe to 2 GW atthis stage due to the shortage, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said at the Ukraine-EU summit. The decision to increase the import of electricity to Ukraine to 2 GW will halve the existing deficit, he said.
