Rosatom sees interest in its NPP projects from 10 countries, 3-4 of which close to formalizing relations - Likhachev

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) -The Russian state corporation Rosatom is currently in talks with around ten countries on building nuclear power plants (NPP), with three or four of them being already close to concluding an intergovernmental agreement, corporation head Alexei Likhachev said in an interview with Rossiya 24 television channel.

"Up to approximately ten other countries are in talks with us about launching joint business with regard to construction of nuclear power plants. And in three or four cases we are close to signing intergovernmental deals," Likhachev said.

Talking to journalists in December 2022, Likhachev named Bangladesh, India, Egypt, China, and Turkey among the countries interested in new projects.

Rosatom's book of oversees NPP construction projects comprised 35 power units at the end of 2021. As reported previously, Finland's Fennovoima terminated a contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country last year. The total number of such projects then shrank to 34.
