EU set to approve 10th package of sanctions against Russia by Feb 24

BRUSSELS. Feb 2 (Interfax) - The European Union is planning to approve the tenth package of sanctions against Russia by February 24, the anniversary of the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday.

"We will introduce with our G7 partners an additional price cap on Russian petroleum products and by the February 24 [...] we aim to have the 10th package of sanctions in place," she said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev.

"We [the EU] are exploring with our partners how to use Russia's public assets to the benefit of Ukraine," she said.

Von der Leyen proposed in November 2022 that over 300 billion euros worth of frozen Russian assets be used to assist Ukraine.
