U.S. Ambassador to Russia Tracy to take office by end of Jan - Dept of State

WASHINGTON. Jan 25 (Interfax) - New U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy will arrive in Moscow by the end of January, U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday.

"We expect Ambassador Tracy will be departing for the Russian Federation, where she will present her credentials in the coming days. We expect her to be in place later this month," Price said at a press briefing.

"She's currently in the process of having consultations with desks and individuals here in Washington," he said.

Price confirmed that Tracy met with Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in the U.S. capital on January 23. He said they did not discuss negotiations on the Ukraine track and refused to disclose topics of the conversation.

The Russian embassy reported the Antonov-Tracy meeting in Washington on Monday but did not disclose details.

It was reported on December 21, 2022, that the U.S. Senate had confirmed Tracy as the new U.S. ambassador to Russia.

Tracy is the first U.S. female ambassador to Russia.
