First INSTC delivery of CLT panels from Vologda region arrives in India - Segezha

ST. PETERSBURG. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The first Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels shipped from Sokol, Vologda region, through the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) to the Indian port of Nhava Sheva have arrived, Segezha Group (, part of AFK Sistema ) said in a statement on Thursday.

The multimodal transportation by road and by sea followed the Sokol-Astrakhan-Bender Enzeli-Bender Abbas-Nhava Sheva itinerary.

"Currently our company is pivoting towards new markets for its products. As well as its domestic market, the business is developing its southeastern direction. Setting up new business ties involves building a smooth logistics supply chain. This is why our great hopes are pinned on subsequent development of the INSTC," the statement quoted Segezha Group's Logistics Director Andrei Yudin as saying.

By transporting more goods and expanding the geography of its shipments, the company will reduce pressure on the rail network in the direction of the Eastern Polygon and land border crossings.

CLT panels are produced by the group's SokolCLT facility (Vologda region), which has an annual capacity of 50,000 cubic meters (equivalent to the production of CLT modules per 200,000 square meters of housing per year).
