Ukraine's Energoatom plans to reconnect ninth reactor unit to grid in early Feb

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - The Energoatom national atomic energy company of Ukraine plans to reconnect another generating unit at Ukraine's nuclear power plants (NPP) to the grid in early February following maintenance, the company's president Pyotr Kotin said.

"We are rapidly reloading fuel at one of the nine reactor units located in Ukraine-controlled territory in order to reconnect it to the energy system as soon as possible. In actual fact, it will happen at the beginning of February," Ukrainian media quoted Kotin as saying at a press briefing at the South Ukraine NPP on Monday.

The other eight units are operating at their maximum capacity, he said.

As reported, Ukraine has nine reactor units at three nuclear power plants - the South Ukraine, Khmelnitsky and Rovno NPPs.

One of the units was disconnected from the grid for routine maintenance in early January.
