Armenian, German presidents discuss humanitarian situation in Karabakh

YEREVAN. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier have discussed the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian presidential press service said in a statement on Friday.

"The presidents touched upon regional affairs, had a detailed discussion of the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, and exchanged views on ways to resolve the problem during a phone call," the press service said.

Khachaturyan described the steps taken by Armenia to promote peace in the region and reaffirmed Armenia's full commitment to the trilateral statements, while expecting Azerbaijan to act likewise, he said.

Steinmeier wholly supported the peace process and noted that Germany was ready to do the utmost to help settle the situation and establish peace.
