Net migration to Ukraine falls to 15,000 in first week of this year - State Border Service

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The net inflow of people to Ukraine, which amounted to 33,000 in the last week of the last year, decreased to 15,000 in the first week of the new year, the Ukrainian media reported on Saturday, January 7, referring to the information of the State Border Service on social media.

According to the service, the flow of people leaving Ukraine during the period from December 31 to January 6, has fallen from 279,000 to 221,000 compared with the previous week, while the number of people entering the country has dropped from 312,000 to 236,000.

The number of cars crossing the western Ukrainian border, according to the State Border Service, fell in the first week of the year from 123,000 to 95,000, while the number of registered vehicles with humanitarian supplies - from 428 to 329.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as of January 3, 17.140 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the crisis, including 8.684 million to Poland, 2.852 million to Russia (data has not been updated since October 3), 2.008 million to Hungary, 1.771 million to Romania, 1.069 million to Slovakia, 739.400 to Moldova and 16.700 to Belarus.

At the same time, according to the UN, 9.181 million people arrived in Ukraine from February 28, 2022 to January 3, 2023 (without data from Hungary, Russia and Belarus).
