Moldovan president calls peaceful solution to Transdniestrian conflict a priority

CHISINAU. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Chisinau considers solely a peaceful option for resolving the Transdniestrian conflict, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said.

"We have simulated different situations, but I repeat that, as far as we are concerned, there can be only a peaceful solution to the Transdniestrian conflict. It is highly important," Sandu said in a televised interview.

"Solutions that have been worked out are also based on the principle that the Transdniestrian settlement process should not hinder Moldova's European integration," she said.

"An opportunity to resolve the Transdniestrian problem may come up, and we should be ready for it. That is why we are working with a group of experts. It is still too early to speak about it or to hold any public discussions on this matter," Sandu said.
