Kazakhstan's Antimonopoly Agency plans to extend LPG price cap until June 30, 2023

ALMATY. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan plans to extend the retail price cap on liquefied petroleum gas until June 30, 2023, the Agency for Competition Protection and Development said in a press release.

Amendments to Order No.6 that was passed by the Agency on July 5, 2022 and titled "On Government Temporary Regulation of Retail Prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas at the Filling Stations in the Republic of Kazakhstan" are now under public discussion.

The amendments would extend the temporary regulation of LPG retail prices by the government until June 30, 2023.

It was reported earlier that Kazakhstan had extended the retail ceiling prices for liquefied petroleum gas (until January 1, 2023. LPG prices were fixed at 50 to 75 tenge per liter depending on the region, 70 tenge per liter for Astana and 65 tenge for Almaty.

In January of this year, the government introduced regulation of gasoline, diesel and LPG prices for 180 days in pursuance of the president's order in order to stabilize the social and economic situation in the republic of the January riots.
