State Duma ratifies agreement between Russia, UAE on cooperation in space

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The State Duma on Thursday ratified the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on cooperation on the exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes.

The agreement was signed in Dubai on October 26, 2021.

Cooperation between Russia and the UAE in the sphere of space activities is being expanded through the implementation of joint projects, in particular, those concerning the installation of a GLONASS station on the territory of the UAE.

Other areas are being addressed in this regard, such as space science and space exploration, including astrophysics studies and planet studies, space environment protection, including control, prevention and reduction of the formation of space garbage, Earth remote sensing from space, space telecommunication technologies, launch services and the creation of space equipment, etc.

The expenditures associated with the fulfillment of the obligations envisaged by the agreement will be financed through the state space corporation Roscosmos and the UAE Space Agency within the framework of the state policies on the exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes and in accordance with the legislations of the parties' states concerning budget regulation, the document said.
