New director appointed at Zaporozhye NPP

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - A former engineer of the Energoatom Ukrainian company has been appointed to head the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Renat Karchaa, an advisor to the Rosenergoatom general director, said.

"The new director of the Zaporozhye NPP and the first deputy general director of JSC Operating Organization of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is Yury Alexeyevich Chernichuk, who in the coordinate system of his former employer, the [Energoatom] national nuclear energy company, held the post of a chief engineer," Karchaa said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel on Wednesday.

According to Karchaa, Chernichuk has been a key figure in running the power plant for several months, also staying in touch with its personnel.

Members of the former team who have signed contracts are being appointed to senior posts in the facility's management, he said.

"There are no signs of our withdrawal either from the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant or from Energodar," Karchaa said.
