Kazakh Trade Ministry offers help to McDonald's with supply chain issues

ASTANA. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's government is offering to help McDonald's to resolve supply chain issues, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin said.

"Most of the supplies, about 1,000 products, were imported. Currently, the supply chain is being modified," Zhumangarin told reporters.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration has offered its assistance to the management of McDonald's in Kazakhstan in resolving these issues.

"I asked the Committee for Technical Regulation to see how we could help with the certification of goods, and how we could speed up this process. We are working on it," Zhumangarin said.

The minister said the suspension of McDonald's operations in Kazakhstan is not related to the investigation against Kairat Boranbaev, a McDonald's franchisee in Kazakhstan, Belarus, and several regions of Russia.

"No, I think it's not the issue. He is a shareholder, so this isn't of much consequence," he said.

McDonald's in Kazakhstan temporarily suspended all its outlets on November 18 due to local supply constraints.
