High-voltage elements of Ukraine's power transmission systems damaged 55-75% - expert

MOSCOW. Nov 25 (Interfax) - The damage and loss of high-voltage elements of Ukraine's power transmission systems is estimated at 55%-70%, the Ukrainian media quoted Energy Industry Research Center Director Alexander Kharchenko as saying on Friday.

Transmission, not generation is the root of the current power supply problem, Kharchenko said.

"The main problem today is related to transmission. We have lost about 55%-75% of key elements of high-voltage equipment, which are either damaged or destroyed," he said.

Regional low-voltage lines are in good shape, Kharchenko said.
