Kyrgyzstan to mine its mineral resources unaided - president

BISHKEK. Nov 25 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan will mine its mineral resources unaided, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said.

"From now on, our key mineral resources will work for state development. Our unexplored and undeveloped fields will be developed by the state itself. Naturally, the profit will be used to the benefit of the people to develop strategic areas of the Kyrgyz economy," Japarov said at a congress of the First People's Assembly (Kurultai) on Friday.

Kyrgyzstan has adopted laws and regulations, which envisage the government's involvement in mineral development, Japarov said.

"From this day on, the development of resources, which have been designated as property of the people and the country, will be strictly controlled," he said.
