Canada imposes sanctions on Belarusian banks, enterprises

MINSK. Nov 23 (Interfax) - The Canadian government has added a number of Belarusian banks, enterprises and citizens to the sanctions list, the Canadian Foreign Ministry's press service said on Tuesday.

The restrictions have been imposed on the National Bank of Belarus, the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Alfa-Bank (Belarus), MTBank and Paritetbank, alongside Belarusian Railways, Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant, Radar Design Bureau, AGAT - Control Systems, Precision Electromechanics Plant and some other enterprises, most of which make military hardware and dual-use goods.

In all, 55 Belarusian enterprises and entities are under Canadian sanctions.

Additionally, Canada has imposed restrictions on 22 Belarusian citizens, including Council of the Republic Speaker Natalia Kochanova, House of Representatives Speaker Vladimir Andreichenko, Chief of the Belarusian Armed Forces' General Staff Viktor Gulevich, Investigative Committee Chairman Dmitry Gora, Belarusian Railways CEO Vladimir Morozov and some other senior officials, Armed Forces commanders, and heads of law enforcement agencies.

As many as 181 Belarusian citizens have been sanctioned by Canada to date.
