Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to invite Hungarian ambassador over PM Orban's unacceptable actions

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will invite the Hungarian ambassador to inform him that some of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's actions have essentially questioned Ukraine's territorial integrity and are unacceptable to Ukraine.

"Viktor Orban showed up at a football match wearing a scarf depicting Hungary as including part of Ukrainian territory. Propaganda of ideas of revisionism in Hungary is not conducive to the development of Ukrainian-Hungarian relations and does not meet principles of European politics," Ukrainian media quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko as saying on social media.

Ukraine expects Hungary to officially apologize and deny that it calls Ukraine's territorial integrity into question, he said.

Romania had earlier made a similar demarche, as the scarf worn by Orban showed a so-called Greater Hungary within the borders dating back to 1918, when it included part of contemporary Romania. Part of contemporary Ukraine was also under Hungary's jurisdiction at the time.
