Rosatom plans to phase out settlements in 'unfriendly' currencies within a year or two

MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Russia's Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation plans to phase out settlements in a number of "unfriendly" currencies, Ilya Rebrov, the corporation's deputy head for economics and finance, said when speaking at the Atom Expo 2022 forum in Sochi.

Rebrov said that, "payments in so-called 'unfriendly' currencies occur every day with some new adventures."

"We have focused the main part of our efforts on implementing the settlement function. We understand perfectly well that there are simply no permanent measures for working with settlements. We are adapting them as much as possible, realizing that there can only be one constant measure: We no longer effect settlements in dollars, euros, yen, or pounds," Rebrov said.

"All these currencies no longer interest us or are safe for us from the point of view of operations. We are gradually moving toward this step-by-step. I think that in a year or two, we will completely remove these settlements," Rebrov said.
