Moldova bolsters gas reserves by 15 mcm, continues importing electricity from Romania

CHISINAU. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Moldovan state company Energocom purchased another 15 million cubic meters of gas on November 1 and Moldova now has 142 mcm of gas in reserve, Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu said.

SA Energocom also purchased 7,802 MWh for tomorrow from Romanian electricity exchange OPCOM and the anticipated shortfall for tomorrow will be 1,698 MWh, Spinu said on his Telegram channel on Tuesday evening, reporting on the situation in the energy sector. No other commercial contracts for electricity were signed, he added.

An electricity supply contract was not signed with the Moldavskaya GRES power plant, he said. "Today, like tomorrow, the right bank will not receive electricity from MGRES," Spinu said.

Moldova does not have its own storage facilities, so all purchased gas is stored in underground gas storage facilities in Romania and Ukraine.
