Rosatom wants to expand exports of radiopharmaceuticals, hopes for assistance from Health Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation is interested in developing the export of radiopharmaceuticals, Alexei Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, told reporters on Monday.

"If we are a supplier of nuclear technologies in the energy aspect, then, in terms of the medical market, radiopharmaceuticals and services, we are nowhere without the Health Ministry. We would very much like to see even greater export opportunities open up. (...) It is extremely important for us to expand the market," Likhachev said.

Likhachev said that, "the more opportunities we have for sales, for the sale of goods and services, the cheaper and better our products are."

Meantime, the state corporation is engaging small- and medium-sized enterprises to replace imported pharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine with Russian counterparts.

"A number of components and types of services can already be performed only by Russian enterprises. We do not shy away from contacts and alliances with private businesses here, with small companies, including those from St. Petersburg, which already have good work experience. And we will back them up with our industrial capacity," Likhachev said.
