Ukrainian finance minister selected to chair WB, IMF boards of governors in 2023

MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - The World Bank and International Monetary Fund Boards of Governors have selected Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko as their next rotating chair in 2023.

"This decision was made unanimously by all the governing member states of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. This has happened for the first time in the 30 years of Ukraine's WB and IMF membership," Ukrainian media have quoted Marchenko as saying on social media.

Ukraine has established a reliable and transparent partnership over this period of time, he said.

"It is a great honor to represent Ukraine in the international financial arena. New status will make cooperation with the international financial institutions and World Bank and IMF member states even more efficient," he said.
