Russia to contribute 1.2 mln euros to IAEA for innovation nuclear reactor project

MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russia will contribute up to 400,000 euros to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) extrabudgetary program fund in 2023-2025 to finance an international project of innovative nuclear reactors and fuel cycles, as seen from a government directive signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and published on the government website.

The directive instructs the Rosatom state atomic energy corporation to coordinate Russia's involvement in the project.

Meanwhile, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said after his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin that no one wants a nuclear disaster.

"Nobody wants a nuclear disaster. Nobody," Grossi said in an interview with the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program aired on the Rossiya 1 (VGTRK) television channel on October 16.
