Ukraine granted 100 additional basic quotas for int'l road freight transport for 2023

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine has been granted 100 additional basic quotas from the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT), resulting in 27% more quotas for 2023 than for 2022.

These quotas will enable unhindered transportation of goods by vehicles across the member countries of the ECMT multilateral quota system, the Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday, citing the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry on social media.

"In total, Ukraine will have 475 basic quotas for the next year. This is 27% more than we had in 2022 and for the last few years. This decision was finally made by the Group on Road Transport at the International Transport Forum in Paris the day before. The additional quotas will improve Ukraine's export capacity and enable us to maintain stable supply chains of goods between our country and the ECMT member countries," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry also noted that earlier this year Ukraine had concluded an agreement with the EU on the liberalization of road freight transport, the so-called transport visa-free travel, which allows carrying out bilateral and transit shipments to the 27 European countries without any special permits.

The ECMT permits are required for the carriers performing flights to the 52 ECMT member states and enable not only bilateral and transit freight transport, but also their transport to and from third countries.
