Inflation in Ukraine reaches 1.9% in Sept, 24.6% year-on-year - State Statistics Service

MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Consumer prices increased 1.9% in September 2022, as compared to 1.1% in August and 0.7% in July, Ukrainian media said on Monday, citing data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Inflation in Ukraine stood at 1.3% in September 2021, which means that year-on-year inflation in September 2022 was 24.6%, 23.8% in August, 22.2% in July, and 21.5% in June.

Core inflation in September increased to 2.4% in September, from 2.1% in August and 1.2% in July.

Consumer prices in Ukraine grew 21.8% in January-September 2022, the State Statistics Service said.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), in turn, offered a slightly lower inflation estimate for September - at 24.4% - and voiced a possibility to downgrade this year's inflation forecast a little from the earlier announced 31%.

As reported, inflation in Ukraine stood at 10% in 2021, up from 5% in 2020 and 4.1% in 2019. Core inflation was at 7.9% in 2021, against 4.5% the year before.

The NBU expects this year's inflation in Ukraine to reach 31%, including 25.6% in the third quarter of the year.
