Russia sees 23,045 new Covid-19 cases, 108 related deaths in past day - HQ

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 23,045 new cases of coronavirus and 108 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Russia registered 23,045 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,292 hospitalizations in the past day, down 7.6% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations grew in 28 Russian constituent territories, decreased in 49, and remained unchanged in eight, it said.

The daily number of new Covid-19 cases dropped slightly from 23,757 reported on Wednesday. The morbidity level in October has decreased to figures last seen in mid-August, when Russia reported 20,000-25,000 new infections per day.

There were 108 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, and 113 the day before.

"Another 41,536 patients have recovered over the past day, down 7.1% from October 5," the headquarters said.

Russia's total Covid-19 caseload since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 21,141,674, including 387,887 deaths and 20,307,569 recoveries.
