Baku plans to at least double gas exports to Europe - Aliyev

BAKU. Sept 30 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan will at least double exports of natural gas to Europe within the next few years, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"Based on the memorandum on strategic partnership in the energy field signed with the EU, Azerbaijan will at least double gas exports to Europe within the next few years. We have resources for that," Aliyev said while making a joint statement for the press in Sofia on Friday.

Azerbaijan's proven deposits of natural gas amount to 2.6 trillion cubic meters, he said.

"A new diversified gas transport infrastructure enables us to provide natural gas to numerous countries. Certainly, the successes achieved in this area are also a good foundation for further plans," he said.
