U.S. sanctions Nabiullina, her 1st deputy, Novak

MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - The U.S. Treasury on Friday made a sweeping update to the Russian segment of its SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) List. As well as members of the Russian parliament, the sanctions list now includes Central Bank chief Elvira Nabiullina and her first deputy Olga Skorobogatova, the Office of Foreign Asset Control said.

Until recently, Nabiullina was only under Canadian and Australian restrictions. On Friday, she was placed on the British sanctions list, the British government website stated.

Skorobogatova has held her post since 2017, being in charge of the national payment system, ensuring the Central Bank's operations on the internal and external markets, the development of financial technologies within the Central Bank and on the financial markets, and so on. She is responsible for the national payment card system (NSPK), the operator of the Russian Mir payment system which replaced MasterCard and Visa after these withdrew from Russia. Prior to 2021 Skorobogatova led the NSPK supervisory board (the company does not currently disclose data on its board members).

Among the new entrants is Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak who is in charge of the government's negotiations in OPEC+.
