Russia registers 38,739 new cases of Covid-19, 109 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 38,739 new cases of Covid-19 and 109 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Russia has recorded 38,739 new cases of Covid-19 and 3,154 patients have been hospitalized over course of the day, down 4.4% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 32 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 46, and has remained unchanged in seven, it said.

Daily morbidity has decreased by 1,278 cases from 40,017 reported on Wednesday. The morbidity level is similar to those of March 15-20, when Russia saw fewer than 40,000 infections per day.

Mortality has been much lower in September, compared to March, when over 400-600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported daily, versus 109 in the past 24 hours, and 111 the day before.

"Another 57,937 patients have recovered over the past day, down 5.8% from September 28," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,952,539 cases of Covid-19, including 387,163 deaths and 19,979,763 recoveries.
