Russia registers 40,188 new cases of Covid-19, 85 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 40,188 new cases of Covid-19 and 85 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Monday.

"Russia has recorded 40,188 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,526 patients have been hospitalized over the day, down 21.2% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 23 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 55, and has remained unchanged in seven, it said.

The daily morbidity has decreased by 6,570 cases from 46,758 reported on Sunday. The morbidity has been similar to that of March 12-14, when Russia was seeing fewer than 50,000 infections per day.

The Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when over 500-600 patients died from Covid-19 per day, as against 85 in the past 24 hours, and 95 the day before.

"Another 44,257 patients have recovered over the past day, down 3.6% from September 25," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has registered 20,837,178 cases of Covid-19, including 386,842 deaths and 19,800,764 recoveries.
