Russia registers 53,335 new cases of Covid-19, 104 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 53,335 new cases of Covid-19 and 104 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Russia has recorded 53,335 new cases of Covid-19 and 3,915 patients have been hospitalized, up 5.3% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 42 constituent territories, has decreased in 37, and has remained unchanged in six, it said.

There has been a slight decline in the daily morbidity from 53,457 cases reported on Thursday. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 10-12, when over 50,000 infections were seen on a daily basis.

The daily rate of hospitalizations has been approximately the same as in March, when morbidity levels were similar.

The Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when over 500-600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported on a daily basis, as against 104 in the past 24 hours and 106 the day before.

"Another 57,625 patients have recovered over the past day, up 1.1% from September 22," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,694,894 cases of Covid-19, including 386,551 deaths and 19,652,187 recoveries.
