Shmyhal and Truss discuss steps to make Ukraine-UK strategic partnership stronger

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Liz Truss have discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, preparations for the heating season and restoration efforts in Ukraine, Ukrainian media said.

"In the context of diversification of energy supply sources and preparation for the heating season, the prime ministers of Ukraine and Great Britain discussed the necessity to increase domestic gas production, in particular in Ukraine," the press service for the Ukrainian government said.

Shmyhal also thanked Truss for the UK's readiness to provide Ukraine with the next tranche of $500 million via the World Bank to buy natural gas.

The parties also touched upon the issue of holding the next Ukraine Recovery Conference in the UK. Specifically, they agreed to set up a working group that will lay the groundwork for this event, which is due in 2023.

Truss, in turn, said that her country's policy aimed at supporting Ukraine remains unchanged.
