Over 4 mln tonnes of Ukrainian foods exported under Black Sea Grain Initiative - UN

NEW YORK. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Nine ships carrying over 200,000 tonnes of food departed from Ukrainian ports on Tuesday, having been cleared by the Joint Coordination Center, the UN said in a statement.

"The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) reports that nine vessels left Ukrainian ports today carrying a total of 200,701 metric tons of grain and other food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative," the statement said.

According to the UN, MV Noran (8,100 tonnes of wheat), MV Nizar (4,950 tonnes of soybeans) and MV Pge Rain (4,400 tonnes of soybeans) are destined for Turkey, while MV Tina S (33,000 tonnes of corn) and MV Rider (9,751 tonnes of wheat) are on their way to Italy, and MV Pauline (48,750 tonnes of corn) is headed to Germany.

MV Nymphi is carrying 27,100 tonnes of corn to the Netherlands, MV Aphrodite will deliver 18,150 tonnes of sunflower seed to Spain, and MV Ssi Pride will transport 46,500 tonnes of wheat to Bangladesh.

"As of 20 September, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from the three Ukrainian ports is 4,087,696 metric tons. A total of 376 voyages (198 inbound and 178 outbound) have been enabled so far," the UN said.

An agreement to open a grain corridor from three Ukrainian ports - Chornomorsk, Odesa and Yuzhnyi - was reached by the UN, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine in Istanbul on July 22.
